Overland Storage, the provider of data protection and data management solutions across the data lifecycle, has announced that its SnapSAN S2000 has successfully achieved Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Server 2008 R2 interoperability certification, including compatibility for Microsoft Hyper-V cloud hosting solution.
The SnapSAN S2000 helps companies using Mac OS X, Linux, VMware, Citrix, UNIX, Windows Server, or Hyper-V to enjoy SAN capabilities. Traditionally, SAN solutions have been viewed as too complicated to run without the oversight of dedicated experts and/or tools such as Microsoft Cluster Server support, failover, snapshots, and active-active mirroring.
This certification proves that the SnapSAN S2000 is capable of supporting Microsoft Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) Writer directly, and is thus able to provide clustered Hyper-V servers with active-active failover, as well as constant backup and replication.
To manage policy-based storage volume growth just-in-time without requiring specialist intervention, the SnapSAN S2000 features integrated Windows management that includes automated capacity expansion. It is also cost-effective for businesses running virtualized server environments or which need storage consolidation thanks to the fact that it scales to 192TB.
The SnapSAN S2000, a solution designed for virtualized server environments including Windows Server environments, passed the exacting verification process aimed at determining compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2 virtualization software. The SnapSAN S2000 and SnapServer E2000 expansion unit can be purchased at authorized resellers worldwide.
Joe Disher, solutions marketing manager, Overland Storage (News - Alert), said that the SnapSAN S2000 is the company’s first iSCSI SAN solution and that it was created from the start with the needs of virtualized server environments and the people and organizations that run them. Thanks to this successful interoperability certification, Disher said, clients can be further assured that Overland Storage is capable of delivering products that can address their specific storage needs. The company offers turnkey storage solutions that are compatible with businesses of any size, and which are capable of being deployed within environments for instant reliability and scalability.
